About

I’m Mason Payne, a software engineer and the person behind SpartanAuth.

I run Masonite Studios, and this blog is where I write in the first person about authentication, security tradeoffs, and what I’m learning while building SpartanAuth. The goal is simple: put a human face on the product and share notes that help other people ship auth without drowning in complexity.

What I’m building

SpartanAuth is an authentication service meant to stay straightforward — passkeys, familiar factors, APIs, and a drop-in login experience. I use it in several of my own applications, and a few beta testers are using it as well.

I’m especially proud that the login widget library is open source. The core product is not; I’m building a sustainable business around it through Masonite Studios while still giving developers a solid open widget they can inspect and adopt.
